James J. Schupper, Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Somerville to the late James J. Schupper Sr. and Frances Schupper, James has resided in Bridgewater for the past 16 and a half years. He worked as a foreman for Bound Brook Public Works for 25 years. James was a loving husband and amazing father who loved spending time with his family, attending his daughter's dance competitions, outdoor activities, collecting baseball cards and antiques, and was an avid sports fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees and NJ Devils. He was on the Bound Brook Fire Department for 17 years where he served as Captain and is current Captain of the Finderne Fire Department, where he has been a member for the past 6 years.
James is predeceased by his father-in-law, Edward Kaladas. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 21 years, Debra Schupper; daughter, Elizabeth Schupper; son, James Schupper; brother, Thomas Schupper and wife Leslie; nephews, Nathaniel and Joseph; mother-in-law, Rosalie Kaladas; sisters-in-law, Diane Demetris and husband Larry and Donna Meeks and husband John; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and Fire Department family.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8:30 AM on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Funeral Home, followed by a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook. James will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Finderne Fire Department, Bound Brook Fire Department or to his daughter Elizabeth's Scholarship Fund via Debra Schupper, 6 Manville Blvd, Bridgewater NJ 08807.
