AGE: 87 • Finderne

Frank T. Kolbek, Jr., 87, entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Frank T. Kolbek, Sr and Mary (Suk) Kolbek, Frank was born in Bound Brook and was a 1942 Graduate of Bound Brook High School. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until 1946 during WWII. Frank was a lifelong resident of Finderne. He owned and operated the Kolbek's Homestead Café in Bound Brook until his retirement in 1980. He organized the Homestead Militia where he put on reenactments of the civil war. Frank was 3 time Worshipful Master of the Eastern Star Lodge #105 F&AM in Bound Brook. A member of the Raritan Valley Lodge #46 F&AM and a member of the Shriner Fraternal Organization. Frank was an avid gun enthusiast and vintage car collector. In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and hunting.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine Kolbek in 2011. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Sharon Kolbek and companion Doug Haberstroh of Finderne and Kathy Swanson and husband Al of Kunkletown, PA; sister, Evelyn Tomasovic of Detroit, MI and personal assistant Patrick Knox of Point Pleasant Beach.

Visiting hours will be held from 8:30AM until 9:45 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home immediately following the viewing, starting with a 9:45AM Masonic Service performed by the Raritan Valley Lodge #46 F&AM and a prayer service at 10AM with Rev. Frank Villerius officiating. Frank will then be laid to rest at Bound Brook Cemetery.

I knew Frank Kolbek pretty well but haven't seen him in years. Frank started the Somerset County Corvette Club during the mid 70's. He was President I remember. Frank owned a vintage 1955 Corvette. Wonder if he still had it.  Also a member of the Corvette Club I remember going to many actual cruises with the club to different events around N.J. and PA. Frank will surely be missed. RIP Frank.
