John J. Ford, Sr., 83, died peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Ford, Jack was born in Pittston, PA. Jack was in the United States Army serving from 1946 until 1948. He was a 1958 Graduate of Rutgers University where he received a degree in Business Administration. Jack attended school full-time and worked evenings at Chicago Express as a supervisor and dispatcher. After college he worked as a personnel manager for American Can and then worked as a business manager for Morrison Steel prior to his career in real estate. In 1968, Jack founded the Ford Realty Group, Inc located in Bound Brook. In the 1970's, Jack was recognized as one of the first certified residential brokers and later, a graduate of the Real Estate Institute. In 2007, Jack retired and his grandson John J. Ford, III.,became his successor. Jack is a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook, Past Exalted Ruler of the Bound Brook Elks, Past Post Commander of the VFW in Bound Brook and member of the VFW in Manville, American Legion in Bound Brook, 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Piscataway, member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, member of the Hunterdon and Somerset Association of Realtors, NJ Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
Jack is predeceased by his son, David J. Ford; brother, Richard "Dick" Ford, sister-in-law, Ann Lucariello; brother-in-law, Louis Lucariello and his wife Thelma. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 61 years, Carmella Marie (Lucariello) Ford of Bound Brook; sons, Joseph J. Ford of Bound Brook; John J. Ford,Jr. of Manville; daughter, Mary Lynn Tolomeo and husband James of Middlesex; daughter-in-law, Valerie Ford of Bridgewater; sister, Marilynn Fabiano of Bridgewater; brother-in-law, Joseph J. Lucariello of South River;sister-in-law, Estelle Ford of Diamond Bar, CA; 8 grandchildren, John J. Ford, III, of Bound Brook, Danny, Lisa and Michael Esposito; Corey, Robert, Vito and Angela Tolomeo all of Middlesex. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8:30AM at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 followed by a 9:30AM Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. "May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face.
