Oppose President Obama's Plan to Reduce Border Enforcement
President Obama's newly proposed 2011 budget would reduce the number of Border Patrol agents along the Southwest border by 180 and cut the funding for the "virtual fence." This will cause citizens and legal immigrants to be forced to continue to compete with eight million illegal immigrants for jobs. Unfortunately, this will also leave key national security programs under funded.
Send this critical message to the President today, asking him to better secure and protect our national borders.
DEAR REP. (Your Congressmen's Names Will Appear Here),
It is very disturbing that you want to reduce the number of Border Patrol Agents! Please do not continue with your plan as it would make our nation less secure.
According to DHS, the Border Patrol only has "effective control" of 697 miles of our southern border. I'm sure I do not need to remind you that the U.S. - Mexico border is 1,969 miles long, meaning that the Border Patrol only have "effective control" of 35% of this border.
Furthermore, the United States has land and sea borders totaling 8,607 miles and DHS only has "effective control" of 894 of these miles. That's barely 10%!
How can you justify removing agents from our borders when they far from secure?
During your State of the Union address you promised to keep our nation secure. I'm counting on you to keep your promise.
Sincerely, (Your Name Will Appear Here)
