I was reading some of the old threads here in the (Yesterdays Bound Brook As You Remember) section of this forum and was thinking that no one had ever mentioned anything about the old Pats Cafe here. I went through all the previous thread listings and didn't spot it and I thought we pretty much covered everything here in town. Anyway I wanted to mention that I use to go down there quite a bit in my younger years for a draft beer. Plenty of friends of mine did the same for a few beers and to shoot some pool.
Back in the day when **Uncle Floyd** came to a Bound Brook Monday Night Cruise I remember going down to Pats Cafe with Tony Gaglia from the glass shop and a few others taking Uncle Floyd with us for a few beers and to shoot a few games of Pool. Wish we would of taken some pictures then so I could show them here. Who thought of it?
Later on Pats Cafe became Cheers in Bound Brook with the very large 16 to 20oz Steak if I remember correctly. I enjoyed the place as I brought my family there to eat on at least 10 occasions before it shut down. I always ordered the largest steak they had. We thought they had one heck of a deal there so we kept going back being the food was so good. Always wondered why the placed closed down.

I remember going to a party upstairs about 50 years ago, the owners daughter threw her name was Alexandria if I remember correctly. Many years later my oldest brother "GOOB" used to go to Cheers for the Steak as Stone mentioned they were HUGE and they had some type of contest going on with eating the Steaks. RIP Goob i'm glad you enjoyed those Steaks.
Ive been told the owner wanted to get rich quick and put little or no effort into the business. He eventually found a loophole in the BB system and then opened a go-go bar. That too didnt work out well. He then decided to allow a latino night club ive heard thats failing too. Upstairs is a rooming house another eyesore for Main St BB------------
