Kurtz News Stand by the train station


What was the name of the news stand by the train station? I can remember the guy who ran always wanted to now how many points i thought we would win our BB games by. Then if we did not win by that amount he was upset..Betting on HS basketball..now thats small town

I remember Kurtz cigar and newspaper store it was on the corner and was a lot bigger before it moved up to the corner after the fire that destoryed the hardware store. My Uncle owned the Annex Hotel I was in the Annex hotle when the fire started in the hardware store.. My Dad and I watched the fire dept. fight that fire and lose. That was when Kurtz moved the store up to the upper corner of that lot.
Spend a lot of time reading comics and bought a lot of comics in Mr. Kurtz stores..

I remember Kurtz in that string of Stores that burned down back in the day. Kurtz was on the corner facing Main Street and Wrights Hardware was next in line to Kurtz. George Kurtz was a nice fellow. His daughter Sally who graduated with me from BBHS use to work down at the store also. That was one heck of a fire that took place on Main Street back in the day. Heck there were quite a few big fires that I remember on Main Street that I think I am going to start a Thread on them.

 As I remember my Dad saying "Bound Brook F.D" never lost a foundation yet !!
