Updykes Diner

You remember Updykes up in N Plainfield on Rt 22. They had the best coffe and onion rings of any of the other diners.

Yes, I do remember Updykes, when I worked at Lockheed Electronics in North Plainfield, we'd go there for lunch, maybe once every other week.
Is it still there?

No, its gone. I don't know what is there now. When I visit up there, I just  remember noticing that it has been gone for a while.

That was Opdyke's.  Last owned by the Saloukas family.  They had a killer fried clam plate.  My first job when I was in high school was at Fabric Land across 22, and once in a while I'd treat myself to dinner at Opdyke's.

It's now a Texas Wiener place, I believe.
