Green Brook Lanes

Does anyone remember Green Brook Lanes. It was smaller than Strike and Spare but a good place to bowl because it wasn't as crowded as Strike and Spare. When I worked at Bound Brook Oiless Bearing, we started a bowling team and would bowl there once a week.

The owner of Greenbrook Lanes was a guy last name of Phillips. When I worked at Kemper Pontiac/Cadillac, he would bring his Gold 1971 El Dorado in for service and I would have to give him a ride back to the lanes. But hated driving the car cause he shaved with his ele. razor in the car and there was wiskers all over the place in there...

I have not thought of Kempers in a long time..my Dad was a Pontiac driver and purchased all his car from Mr. Karpinski..also remember going into the "mountains" and playing basketball at the Kempers house..they had a full court paved court in their backyard.

Tom Kemper, who is now the Service Manager there was my best man at my wedding.
Mr. Ben Kemper, Tom's father passed away recently and now John, Greg and Tom all contribute in the operation of the dealership. It was a great place to work back then and I'm sure it still is. I still call Tom every once in awhile just to keep up with things. They are good people and I am greatful to call them friends.

Jimmy Kemper was never real involved in the dealership. He worked there on and off while I worked there, but never stuck around. I think he was into record production. I remember Tom telling me he had something to do with producing MONDAY MONDAY by the Mama's and the Papa's. I'll have to ask Tom next time I talk to him..
I worked there with George in the early 70's, I remember he had a red 1968 Camaro 327 4 speed. Then in 73 he bought a 73 GTO. He was a good guy too. Sorry to heard about his passing.

Funny you mention about Jimmy Kemper here and him being into recording records. He must be the Kemper that had a recording studio in Bound Brook back in the day around the Mid 60's over on Maiden Lane at the old Lyric Theatre downstairs. Playing in a Rock Group back then we rented a room in that building also downstairs to practice and store our equipment along with another popular band from the Bridgewater area. Upstairs is where The Chatter Box was located in BB.biggrin
