There was a small pond on Sheperd Ave, just inside Middlesex going from Mountain Ave., on the south side that we used to call turtle pond. Being young, to find a turlle or snake was a big deal. This pond always had a bunch of painted turtles in that we would be after. On a side note, when Piedmont farms was being developed the basements, before they were framed, would collect rainwater and be full of frogs and tadpoles that we would also go after. Good memories.
