Headless train brakeman

Do any of you know or remember about a headless train brakeman that supposedly walked the tracks at night with a lantern? I believe it was up in Berkley Heights. A bunch of us way back when went up there to check it out, but the only thing that was found was us by the police who told us to leave. We should have stuck with looking for the ghost up by Meldinkes castle up in Warren, I think she was supposed to have been a nun..

Not a clue about the headless train brakeman  in Berkley Heights. However, in Bound Brook, in the vacant lot next to Lasko's, that  we called "The Field" many, many years ago there was a man who hung himself from a tree. Someone taking a short cut from Linden Ave to 2nd Street walked into him and called the BB police. Ever since that time, he haunted The Field and you just did not want to be caught in there late at night.
I think it was just a ploy by the parents of all the kids who lived on Linden Ave to get us all inside by 10 o'clock. But I can recall never seeing a friend of mine named Razz again who said he was going to take a short through The Field to go to Frank's store for a soda.
Razz are you out there?

Hey, I remember that story about the guy who hung himself in the field behind Lasko's and Jimmy Caps. Didn't stop us kids from cutting through the field on the way up to the high school though. I did get bit by a dog one day in the behind as I could not outrun him after crossing through the field and walking through Lasko's up to 2nd street. Man that hurt. Never did anything about it. Today someone would of sued right away. I never even told my parents. Didn't even think of getting a Tentis Shot.no

Come to think about it, I never did see Razz again either!  I do remember Janet and Jacqui, his sisters, his mother Marge and father Jack.

I remember the story about the guy who hung himself in the tree also.  I even remember Uncle Danny telling me who the guy was but it has been so long, that is one thing I can't remember.

Hey, I am willing to bet none of you have seen Johnny Farina anymore since the 60's either. The last time I saw him he was shooting pool over at Frank (Baccala's) candy store on 2nd street. biggrin

You're right! I can't remember when I last saw Johnny. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw Alan Chase or Richie, Francis or Walter.

Hey Zach, I remember Alan Chase. He lived 2 homes up from Joesdad. Haven't seen him in decades. Don't know who the other 3 are. Where they brothers of Alan?

They lived across the street from Alan.  Three brothers and a sister. Their last name was Liebold. We were about 14 when they moved out of BB to Bradley Gardens and I lost touch with them. True story, one day I'm walking down the street in Bermuda on my honeymoon and this guy comes up to me and says, aren't you.... I say, who wants to know, he says Richie from Linden Ave. I almost dropped dead. He was on his honeymoon also and recognized me, small world. We got together for a long while after that, even got back in contact with his brothers but after a while, life took us in different directions and we again, lost touch.
