The Old Graveyard

Again one must go back pretty far to remember the Old Graveyard located directly behind the church building at the corner of 2nd St. and Church St. There was also access to it on the corner of Talmadge Ave. Funny thing years ago they took out all of the graves there and the remains and built some housing on that piece of property. Makes you wonder if any of the people living there today know that they are living in a real Graveyard. jawdrop.gif

That could be a little Spooky around Halloween I would think or really anytime. omfg.gif

Hey Stone,

I do remember the old graveyard.  Did it belong to the old church there or what type of graveyard was it?  In order to relocate the graves, they would have had to get permission from a family member if they could be located.  Any details you have would be nice, I am curious.

Good question joesdad. I believe it belonged to the old church at one time but believe it or not one of my relatives owned that large yard from what I remember. He use to plant all kinds of produce on that property although it was a grave yard. Remember that old Ballantine Beer truck that sat in the yard? I am going to have to investigate a little more here that you got me going on it. Problem is the majority of the old timers are gone and I really don't know who to ask as of the moment.

Don't know how far back you remember being you were born in '58 but right below to the left of Talmadge Ave right next door to the graveyard is where Barts Glass Shop got its start.
