Don't know how many of you remember Mike's Mill End Shop owned by Mike Barber back in the day. I remember my mom taking me with her to buy material to make dresses for her and my sister. She did some work for our neighbors, relatives and friends also over the years since her first job was in a sewing factory. I say she took me in with her but it was more like dragging me in since it was a boring thing for a kid to be doing at the time. Mike was a nice fellow always kidding around with the ladies in the store but he was all business looking to make that sale. I remember him well with that cigar hanging from his mouth behind the counter. I usually made it out of there with a lolly pop. As I remember it Mike's Shop was right at the corner of Talmadge and Main right by Chitch's Pizzeria before it moved over to Mountain Ave.

I do remember the business but I can't for the life of me remember what Mike looked like or where the shop was when it was on Talmadge; I just can't picture it

Zach, I remember Mikes face like it was yesterday and could pick him out of a lineup even today for how many times I was brought into his shop. Location: Driving down Main Street towards Somerville he was located on the same side of the road as Chitch's right pass the Pizzeria on the right as you came in contact with Talmadge Ave.
