I am surprised no one has mentioned P&M Furniture located on Vosseller Avenue in Bound Brook. P&M was the place to go back in the day for furniture, TV's etc. I remember my family purchasing their first TV from P&M as well as others over the years. We actually purchased our first Zenith Color TV from P&M. The place where the building sat to this day looks very empty if you were to ask me. Just seems like something is missing.

You're right. P&M was a big businiess in BB back then. Our family bought just about every major furniture purchase there. Tony Pinone (spelling) the "P" and Carl Maltese the "M" were the owners My Mom would babysit Tony's kids every now and then. I also remember that P&M was a great place to get free passes to the Brook Theater and they sponsored a Little League team.

You know Zach I was going to mention the Free Passes for the Brook Theatre also here as P&M was the place where I got my free passes also for the Summer. I remember Tony well but you let me in on something I didn't know in that Carl Maltese was the other owner. I guess I was too young at the time to know this. I remember both Tony and Carls son's from High School though. I ran into Jackie (Tony's son) during the BB Flood of 2007 in town as he was working with a road crew. Carls son (also named Carl) I haven't seen in years.

P&M was big business for sure. Tony Pannone was the sole owner by time I started buying there. He and his wife Clem (Dallessandro) has the place for years then left it in care of the boy's (Richie and Bobby) to run when they moved to Fl. Tony and Clem have both passed on as has Richie (way too young from a heart attack). There were two more children, Janet, and DD (Denise). Denise passed away recently and was probably only in her early 50's.
Mr. Pannone's mother lived on Linden Ave. as did Mrs. Pannone's mom. In fact, Mrs. Dallessandro lived not far from ZACH. The world gets smaller and as I have always said, everyone in Bound Brook is related some how or another! It gets deeper and you can PM me for details.
Tony Pannone was a very generous man and was fortunate with every endeavor he went into was successful. If I am not mistaken, the P&M was Pannone and McGlaughlin. They opened a used car lot on the corner where Dunkin Doughnuts is at (Vosseller and Union) when they came out of the army after wwII. They then went in the furniture business and somewhere along the way, they parted ways but Tony retained the familiar M in P&M!
joesdad, I'm, curious, where did you hear that the M, in P&M was a man named McGlaughlin? I remember going to P&M with my parents and grandparents and always seeing Carl Maltese sitting in the office. He later split from the business and opened his own furniture store on Talmage Ave. When I got married, we bought a dry sink from him and when it was delivered it was damaged. We had to take him to small claims court to get him to take it back and get our money back. Yes, the Dallessandro's, Mike and I believe her name was Caroline, lived right across the street from me on Linden Ave. Later, I think Janet also lived on Linden Ave for a while.
I had heard that from family stories. Pretty much from Uncle Danny. Carl Maltese probably was affiliated later on. If you recall there was CARL furniture on Talmage Ave. later.
You are correct, Janet lived on Linden Ave. in her grandmother's house once the grandmother passed on. I did see Janet about 10 years ago here in Florida along with Clem at Janet's Aunt Rose's house. Rose's husband used to own Manville Lanes and the package store. She was a good friend of my grandmother.
