I remember skating on Willows Pond during the late 50' early 60's. Many from the area went there as it was the place to be if you wanted to Ice Skate outdoors. There wasn't any Ice Skating Rinks around our area that I know of back then.
Today it doesn't seem to get cold enough to freeze that pond to where it would hold all the people as it once did back in the day.

My first, second and last attempts to ice skate were done on Willows Pond. We'd also go there in the summer to fed the crazy ducks. If you didn't feed them fast enough, they'd chase you up the bank and back to your car
Thinking of way back when this was the time of year that many of us from Bound Brook and the surrounding towns went ice skating at Willow's Pond in Middlesex. You can just feel it in the cold air out there. I haven't been by there in quite awhile and wonder if it freezes hard enough where people are still ice skating on it anymore. Not cold enough yet but it is coming as Winter is now almost upon us. It was a pretty cool place to be as there were plenty of people there skating on weekends and school days off. I remember as a kid as some of us kids would try to be dare devils going up the bank some on the other side of the pond trying to skate down it onto the ice. I remember smacking my face on that hard ice as I came down back then. Learning a lesson right away that day of what a dummy I was to try to do that. But you know how it goes. One kid see's another do something and well you just have to try to do the same maybe with different results such as in my case.

man I have not thought about Willows Pond in years..I can remember my Dad taking me there to skate and how surprised I was at what a good skater he was...sure do miss the man
