Plenty should remember the Cut-Rate Drug Store on Hamilton Street. 3 for a dime candy was also had here. Plenty would load their pockets before entering the Brook Theatre across the Street. Any of you remember Jake the pharmacist from behind the counter? Great fellow.

Stone, I can't remember how many times I went to Cut Rite for 3 bars of candy before I went over to the Brook for a movie. My cousin and I were just talking about this over the weekend and my son, who was listening, didn't believe we got 3 big bars for 10 cents, he kept saying that they must have been the miniature bars. I told him they didn't even have miniature bars of candy back then!
I also remember but maybe I am a bit younger than you guys..I remember 3 for 12 cents..when I told my kids they could not believe it..many a stop before the movies
som44, I remember the increase of 2 cents. Some people were not very happy with that. It was either Loree's or the Cut Rate that did that but the other don't remember who it was kept the price at 3 for a dime for as long as they possibly could.

we date ourselves with some of these posts..lol..guess it only makes sense..hell I am going to be a grandfather at the end of the summer..in truth really excited by it
You are right it was 3 for a dime and you saw a double feature at the Brook. I guess now a movie around here is about $12 plus Popcorn $5 and a drink for $3 I take the wife out to eat after the movie !!
Dixie, that's right a double feature and a cartoon or two before that. The double feature has gone the way of the Sunday afternoon doubleheader in baseball, it doesn't happen anymore!
