Eddies Butcher Shop (Located On Linden Ave)

Just curious to see how many remember Eddies Butcher Shop located on Linden Ave. Eddies was a block down the road turning onto Linden Ave from Drake St. on the right sitting next door to Lasko's Soda Bottling Company.  When you think about it I am sure some can probably hardly believe how these small business's were located right in residential neighborhoods back in the day. From what I understand Bound Brook even before I grew up had many business's mixed in with the homes in town as I remember plenty just in my time of growing up in BB.

I lived right next door to Eddies. His shop was the best. My grandparents and parents bought all their meats from him. As a matter of fact, it seemed like everyone bought from Eddie. His parking lot was packed all day long on Saturday.
He had a smokehouse outside on the side of his shop and we could always tell when he was smoking something. When I think about it, I can still smell that great aroma.
Once a year he would make liver sausage. I know it sounds gross but my grandmother would fry some up with potatoes and peppers and onions. Break off a piece of Bonaduce's fresh baked bread and you were in heaven. You could not ask for anything better. Oh, man what memories.

Oh yeah, Eddie's!  Best cold cuts you could get along with the meats.  That place was in institution for us growing up.  I remember being sent to Eddies to "pick up the order" by my great Aunt.  I also remember that deliveries were made by Eddie's runners on Linden Ave.

He made the best coffee. I remember his coffee pot, the inside was as black as the ace of spades. He would always tell Helen (Mrs. Sleph) don't you dare wash this pot with soap. His meat when he would cut a special roast was a masterpiece. My son who is an adult would walk down to the butcher shop on Saturday and pick up my order. He was the only butcher who worked on Saturday night til 11:00 pm.
We have some great memories.
