HOW CAN WE FOR GET CARL OVER AT THE PARK LUNCHONETTE.......USE TO TELL THE KIDS LOOKING AT THE MAGAZINES ......(THIS IS NO LIBRARY{
Gia, I remember Carl very well. If I am not mistaken didn't he have a special Tatoo on one of his arms from when he was held in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany? You probably know the story better then I do.
By the way by the look of your Avatar I would say you spent plenty of time at the Park Luncheonette Library. GIA you weren't the only one. Those who grew up during our time know what we are talking about. I use to like the pinball up there. If you went swimming at the Park Pool chances are you made your way up there to the Park Luncheonette at one time or another.

You are correct Stone Carl did have a tat on his arm and on the side of his neck from the concentration camp he was in during the war......Told us the stories of it and how he feared for his life that he was going to be the next group to be killed...Pretty amazing stuff hearing it from someone who was part of the stuff we all read in the history books
Hey Gia, Is that a Avatar of Dr. Gene Rossi ? Tell me that doesn't look just like him in that avatar. He could of passed for the Godfathers brother I would have to say.

Caseylu, check the thread posted on July 1, 08 in the Yesterdays Bound Brook as You Remember it, section. It's on pg 5 and the subject is Park Luncheontte
I will be moving this thread over to the Yesterdays BB As You Remember section of the forum as it does not belong in the Remember When? Other Towns section. Being there is already a thread started back in June of 2008 for the Park Luncheonette I will combine the 2 posts here into the original thread.
Zach, thanks for helping me out in pointing this out right away so that I could correct it.
caseylu, I see you mentioned also about Carvels and Barbetti's here in this thread. You might want to check in the Yesterdays BBÂ section to see if there are threads started for those 2 establishments. If not you may want to start one rather then speak about them in the Park Luncheonette thread. Just a thought.

I just saw The Park Lunchonette tread on the other post and saw the reference to this one. That was my neck of the woods and can't begin to tell you how much time I spent in the Park Lunchonette....Brfore Karl owned it... It was called Tony's Park Lunchonette.. It didn't matter who owned it, to me and the crew I hung out with it was always Tony's... Even in the late 60's if we were going to meet before going somewhere.. All we would say is "meet me at Tony's"

Does anyone remember the Corner Store at Thompson and Union Ave? I can't remember the official name but I remember people referring to it as "Kuba Kabalski's" I have no idea why. It was owned and run by an older man and his wife. They were holocaust survivors. I remember being 7 or 8 years old in the mid 60's, walking home from Codington Pool with my girl friend. We stopped to buy candy and I guess it was the first time I noticed the numbers on his arm because I asked him why he wrote on himself. I can't recall what he said but I do remember going home and telling my Mom. She just said he was a very lucky man to be alive and to always be nice to him. Next to it was a barber shop ,next to that was a beauty parlor and next to that was Food Fair which became Effingers. On the Thompson Ave. side there was a car dealer and then a denist office, I think.

VickeyRedHead, Just scroll down about 24 posts on this page 1 of Yesterdays BB Threads and you will see the title (Park Luncheonette). That is the name of the corner store you are mentioning in this thread. I will merge your thread with the Park Luncheonette thread to keep one thread whole on the same topic in a few days giving you enough time to come back to this forum to view it.
Merged Thread 6/8/10
