Robert Verry, who became the borough's chief in 2000, filed a suit in 2010 that said he was owed more than $110,000 in unused sick time.
In exchange for the payout, the borough didn't have to admit to wrongdoing.
Verry retired in 2008 after he said borough officials retaliated against him for reporting then-Mayor Jo-Anne Schubert to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. While he was to receive a $207,155 payment for his unused sick days, personal hours and vacation, Verry said he was only paid for the personal hours and vacation time, the report said.
Schubert was forced to resign and enter a pre-trial intervention program after awarding $35,000 in no-bid municipal work to her brother's company, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
