Oppose Pres. Obama's Executive Amnesty

Dear NumbersUSA Members,

"Is there anybody in America who believes that the 20 million unemployed or underemployed Americans need more competition?" asked Roy Beck on NPR on Friday in response to President Obama's Amnesty-By-Executive Order announced last week. (more on this below)

Now that Congress has returned for two weeks before the July 4th recess, I hope you will take a minute today to visit your Action Board -- https://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/action/board -- and send a fax to your Member of Congress asking them to stand against President Obama's announcement that he will grant work permits for 2 to 3 million illegal aliens while 20 million Americans remain unemployed and underemployed. You will also find an opportunity to call the White House and tell them what you think of the President's new "jobs program." Even if you sent a fax last week, please click on this link again today as Joe Jenkins has just posted new faxes to send today.

While the more than one million of you receiving this email have been doing a great job of reminding the President and Congress that Congress has already acted on this issue -- three times in votes that rejected granting these illegal aliens the legal residency and work permits that the President now says he will deal out all by himself -- NumbersUSA has been making the case against the President's amnesty in the media since the news broke on Friday.

From FoxNews to the L.A. Times to NPR, Roy has been widely quoted as opposing this amnesty, particularly at a time when so many Americans are out of work or forced into part-time work. Shortly after the news broke on Friday, Roy said this to the L.A. Times,

"Today, in an unconstitutional move, President Obama thwarted the will of Congress and shunned the 20 million under and unemployed Americans by announcing he will grant work permits to 2-3 million illegal workers. Congress on three occasions rejected DREAM Act amnesties in part to protect unemployed workers born here or who came here legally," said Roy Beck, NumbersUSA CEO and Founder.

Roy's op-ed that ran on FoxNews.com starts,

"President Obama thwarted the will of Congress and shunned the 20 million under-employed and unemployed Americans by announcing he will grant work permits to 2 million to 3 million illegal immigrants. This appears to be an unconstitutional fiat that not only usurps congressional authority to set immigration policy but directly contradicts what Congress has already decided."

You can read the full op-ed here -- https://www.numbersusa.com/content/nusablog/beckr/june-18-2012/obamas-move-immigration-unc onstitutional-disaster-unemployed.html. And you can read the transcript of an NPR interview on the topic that quotes Roy along with President Obama and Governor Romney here -- http://m.npr.org/news/front/155135339.

Be sure to check your Action Board throughout the week as we anticipate some votes in the House this week as well.
