VINCENT J. "VINNIE" CAPALBO AGE: 80 SOUTH BOUND BROOK Vincent J. Capalbo, 80, died Jan. 10, 2010. Vinnie was born and raised in Brooklyn and resided in South Bound Brook since 1957. He was employed as a mechanic for GAF in South Bound Brook for over 25 years. He also worked at Temp Technology in Somerset and retired in 1992. During his retirement Vinnie spent his time proudly helping his son run his automotive repair business in Bound Brook. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of South Bound Brook American Legion Post 363, the VFW Post 2290 and was a member of the South Bound Brook Fire Co. #1 for 48 years, serving as chief in 1974. He was also a member of the N.J. State Exempt and Somerset County Fire Chiefs Association. Vinnie was an avid NY Giants and Mets fan. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and fixing clocks. He was kind, considerate of others, and always lent a helping hand. His grandchildren were the joy of his life, and loved spending time with them. Vinnie was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be sadly missed by all. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary; sister, Frances Esposito, and two brothers, George and Louis. Surviving are his daughter, Joanne Capalbo of South Bound Brook; son, Vincent J. "Vinnie" Capalbo, Jr. and his wife Lynette of Bound Brook; niece, Marie Fasano and her husband Pat of Manville; grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Kyle, Vinnie, Anthony, and Michele; sister-in-law, Antoinette Memon, and several nieces and nephews. Prayers will be said 9:00am Friday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave. Somerville 908-725-3111 followed by a 10:00am mass at St. Josephs RC Church in Bound Brook. Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-9pm Thursday at the funeral home. To the Capalbo Family. Words can't express the great lost your family is facing right now. Outside of the family I feel this lost as well as anyone else. Mr. C. as I called your father,grandfather and uncle was a good man. I am very happy to have known such a person over the years and he will be sorely missed by many who knew him. Mr. C. knowing you as well as I did I know you weren't ready to leave just yet. My only hope is that you rest in peace now. You certainly deserve to do so.
Vincent Capalbo senior was the father of Vinnie Capalbo the owner of Vinnie's Auto & Truck repair in the town of Bound Brook.
