In-state tuition for illegal immigrants advances in Legislature

TRENTON — Committees in both houses of the Legislature voted Monday for a proposal that would give immigrant children not in the country legally the ability to pay in-state tuition rates at New Jersey public colleges.

Students who are undocumented aliens would be eligible to pay in-state tuition if they attended a New Jersey high school for at least three years, graduated or got the equivalent of a diploma and file an affidavit with their college promising to apply to legalize their immigration status as soon as they're eligible.

New Jersey would be the 12th state to exempt undocumented immigrants from paying out-of-state tuition rates — which can be twice or more the rates charged to in-state residents — if the Senate and Assembly pass the bill Thursday or next Monday and Gov. Jon S. Corzine signs it before leaving office Jan. 19.

***Democrats*** on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and Assembly Budget Committee voted for the bill, and Republicans opposed it.

This is why I hate the Democratic Party anymore and the reason Corsine lost the Election yet these dumb a$$ Democrats still don't get it just as the Obama administration doesn't get it.

This pisses me off to no end! NJ has the largest percentage of illegal aliens after California, taxes are among the highest in the country, the tax base is fleeing the state as fast as they can, budget is in the sewer and these morons want to hand out money we don't have so illegal aliens can go to college?!?!?!

Hello? They are NOT allowed to work in the US! What good will college do them?? We have millions of American kids who could use a break.

Dick Codey doesn't give a $hit anymore being Corsine was voted out of office. The Democrats are just plain wrong on just about everything anymore. Right now as you read this Dick Codey is pushing Gay Marriage in N.J. do to be voted on tomorrow Thursday. This is something I am very strongly against. I believe what I read in the bible. God made Adam and Eve to populate the earth. He didn't intend on Adam and Steve to do it. Step back just a few steps and think about it. Sure makes sense to me and plenty of other people with good heads on their shoulders. The whole country is phucked up anymore I hate to say.  Things that should never be are starting to be. Something wrong with that picture.no

Well, they voted down the gay marriage bill, which I was also against. Let's make it a twofer by shooting down giving illegal aliens in-state tuition.
