Many years ago, right out of high school, I got a summer job with the BB Dept of Public Works. I spent most of that summer working with John. He was one of the nicest and kindest men I ever met. Thanks for the memory, John Rest in peace
JOHN J. MAGULAK AGE: 89 BOUND BROOK John J. Magulak, 89, died Wednesday, May 20, at Lyons V. A. Medical Center in Bernards Township. Born in Bound Brook, he was the son of Peter and Eva Estvon Magulak he lived in Bound Brook his entire life. He was the Supervisor of Public Works in Bound Brook for over 25 years before his retirement several years ago. Mr. Magulak served his country during WWII in the Army and was a prisoner of war in Germany for two years and had also received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post 2290 in Manville, the Bound Brook Moose Club Lodge 988, and the POW group at Lyons. He was an avid gardener and supplied tomatoes and vegetables to many people in town. He loved to fish and take trips to Atlantic City. Mr. Magulak was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sperduto; and 2 brothers, Michael and Peter. Surviving are his sisters, Elizabeth Plesa of Bound Brook, Julia Mazurak of Bridgewater, Anna Sixt of Somerville and Helen Gold of Spotswood; and a brother, George of Manville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Interment will be Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
