We went to the Mets, Phillies game in Philly on Saturday. Got there early so my eight year old son, Max and I went down to the right field fence in hopes of catching a player walking by and getting an autograph. Bummer, no players but two guys from the grounds crew were putting down the foul line from the foul pole to the infield. They do it with what looks like a ten foot long, 5 inch wide box. In the box is the chalk that's used to make the line on the field. They put the box down on a plumbline and then tap the side of the box with a rubber mallet and the chalk falls to the ground creating the white line. Anyway, they get right in front of us and one of the guys asks my son if he wants to help him put the line down. Are you kidding, I pick Max up and over the fence and he's out on the field putting down the line all the way to the infield. I don't think his feet touched the ground while he was out there. I didn't get the groundskeepers name but he doesn't realize what lifetime memory he gave Max. The downside to this, Max was so impressed, that he's now a Phillies fan.
