Wow! That is a pretty old picture maybe 40 years old or so and the thing is I know quite a few of the people on that team. Bobby P. and Anthony A. are no longer with us as that have passed away.

I am going to move this thread into the "Yesterdays Bound Brook As You Remember" Section of the forum where it truly belongs.

Thanks Tony5girls. That picture is one of my favorites and means a lot to me. Some of my best friends are in that picture. I remember that day like it was yesterday however, Stone is right, it's about forty years old.
Hey, tony5girls, Tommy Rocks and I were talking about you over the weekend. When are we going to see you?
Thanks again for the memory

Som44, George Nilsens Obituary is listed on this forum. I am not sure
whether you know or not.  When he passed I had it listed on another forum I belonged to at the time that shut down so I brought it over to this forum when I started it a little over a year ago. Here is the link to save you some time getting there. http://stsbbnjforum.activeboard.com/index.spark?forumID=121093&p=3&topicID=16644553

I remember the finals. Not to bring back bad memories but I remember that it was a tough day at the plate for some of the guys that day.

Hey, I was a batboy for that senior league team too. Did we take turns?

They were a great team and duked it out with Somerville every year. One year in the championship game up at Brooks Field Buddy Frezza hit a gapper in the last inning of a tied game and was headed home for an inside-the-park homer.  The big catcher for Somerville, Otto somebody, blocked the base path and kneeled down onto Buddy as he was sliding, tagging him out when the ball arrived. The BB players charged the field and a brawl ensued with players and fans both getting into it.  I was scared to death as a 8-year-old batboy over on the bench.  In the end the play stood and Somerville won that year.

Thanks for posting the picture!

We were not a well liked teamed back then. Everyone wanted to kick our butts, but very few did, because we were so good. What ticked people off the most was when we would fool around for about four innings and fall behind and then we would turn it on in the last few innings and win.
I believe the game you are talking about was against Raritan. Otto Giesel was the catcher. BTW, we won that game, not them, ask Alan. Anyway, we had a couple of run ins with them  going back to some high school games. In high school they had kids from Raritan and Bridgewater together and we'd still kick butt. All of us played together in the Senior League until we won the chamionship for three years in a row because then the throphy would be retired to the town.
Thanks for the memory

BB hosted the NJ Little League finals that year of the picture.  We had a really good fielding team, two wicked curve ball pitchers in Sean Doremus and Richie Florczak, and some big sticks Matt Vischetti, Tony Izzo, and Glen Gulyas in the middle of the line-up.  The town brought in bleachers that lined the entire field, outfield and all.  A month later the field was washed away with the flash flood of tropical storm Doria.  The score in the championship game was close, 4-3 or 3-2, and I always felt that we should have won.

Thanks for posting the old picture.
