Elaine D. Schoonover, 57, of Hillsborough died Monday Jan. 19, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville after a long illness. Elaine was born in New Brunswick and formerly of Bound Brook before moving to Hillsborough in 1987. She was employed since 1971 at Somerset Medical Center where she held various positions for 37 years. Elaine was most recently employed as a medical secretary in the physical therapy department. She was a 1969 graduate of Bound Brook High School. Elaine attended the First Baptist Church in Somerville. She volunteered her time as both a Girl and Boy Scout Leader in Hillsborough and Bound Brook. She enjoyed reading, gardening, camping and cooking in her spare time. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her father Robert J. Madson. Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Kenneth; her children, Joshua Bogumil, Kenny Schoonover, and Carleen Schoonover; her mother Agnes Madson Chester; and a brother Thomas Madson.
Funeral services will be 8:30pm Friday at the Bruce C Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave. Somerville, 908-725-3111.
