Hoagie Hut

Does anyone remember the Hoagie Hut on Union Ave in Bridgewater?
Is it still there? I think it was opened by a guy named Pollicastro or Porticarro something similar to that. He was a teacher and basball coach for one of the Bridgewater schools at the time and opened this hoagie place as a part-time endeavor. It was just that, a very small building if I remember correctly, a hut. It became really popular and had some of the best hot and cold subs around back then.

Did I hear Sausage and Pepper Hoagie? Gia you are making me hungry. Hoagie Hut use to be one of my favorite places to eat when they had the old building or hut on the corner. Like Gia said great S&P Hoagie. I haven't been into the new place. Its been a long time I hate to say.

It opened about 1969. Replaced in the early 80's with a QuickChek Food store. In the old parking lot I remember they had a vending machine that sold paper gallons of milk; that was just as you no longer had milk delivered to your door. Across the street there was a Citgo station owned by Don Haug- what a great guy and a brilliant mechanic.

If I remember correctly I believe the Hoagie Hut is still there in the little Strip Mall behind the old location at the corner. The Quick Check is behind the Strip Mall facing Rt.28. As far as Don Haug is concerned I knew him well. I actually use to sell to him in his business. He passed away maybe 10 years ago I believe.
