H&H Chrysler Dealership - - - West Main Street

Don't know how many of you remember the H&H Chrysler Dealership located on West Main Street almost right across the street from Chitch's Pizzeria back in the day. Right now the old dealership is occupied by Nergers Automobile Repair.

I worked in that building after the Chryler dealer closed and it became a repair shop (before Nerger's).  I worked for AUTO WORLD, a used car dealer, doing detail work on cars after school.  Probably was there a few years.  Used to work late into the night as we did the detailing for H.O.B Chevy and some of the other dealers in the area.  I can still remember being in there and smelling the pizza from Chitch's wafting across the street.

When the Chrysler dealer sold out, they left a lot of old parts upstairs in the loft.  There were fenders and bumpers still in the wrappers for late 50's and early 60 Mopar products.  It was cool to go upstairs and browse and try to identify the shapes.

Did a guy named Ken Baedder own it at one time?
He was married to my cousin for a while and he owned a dealership around there somewhere

Zach,
Ken and his brother Bill ran the front section under Rent A Wreck and a fellow by the name of Don not sure of his last name ran the repair shop in the back. Don owned the place and unless Nergers purchased it I would say Don still owns it. Ken and Bill purchased the used car lot on the corner of Church Street and Main and ran Rent A Wreck out of there for many years. I think they still own the property but lease it to someone else who took over the business. Ken lives out in Florida now. Joesdad might want to look him up. He is in Fort Myers. Bill is still in the N.J. area.

Stone, thanks for the info.
I haven't seen or talked to Ken since he and my cousin split too many years ago

I worked for Ken and Bill a number of years.  Ken is down in Ft. Myers. I haven't spoken to him in a few years.  I don't know if he is here year round or just winters here.  They were a trip to work for.  I do remember when he married Zach's cousin.  Ken was a unique guy.

The owner of the building and repair end was Don Hirsch.  He ran a pretty good business there for a number of years.  He is probably way up in years by now.

Joesdad,
Ken lives in Fort Myers year round and has for a number of years. I would have to guess at least 8 years now if not longer.

I ran into Don last year on a Friday Cruise Night in Somerville as he was walking on the sidewalk with his daughter observing all of the old cars. He liked the Street Rod that I built up from a bare frame and was even more surprised after looking it over that I built it. A lifelong mechanic like Don knows exactly what is involved in the procedure of building one thats for sure.
