Tommy Plick's Barber Shop

Does anyone remember Frankie Detro's (spelling) Barber Shop on Talmage Ave?
it was there many years ago and eventually sold and became Tommy Plick's BB Shop and then later sold to a Gargulio.

If its the shop that was on Talmadge Ave right up the street on the right from the Corner of Drake and Talmadge yes I remember that shop. There was also a Barber Shop that I went to as a kid during the 50's that was on the corner of Talmadge and West Main Street across from the Brass Rail. Actually that barber shop was the first barber shop to give me a haircut back in the day. smile

Ok I may be wrong on the name but do you remember the barbershop on Talmadge Ave, right around the butcher shop (Buenos). I can remember my mom dropping me off there and then after getting a haircut walking down to my Grams.

Of course I remember the barber shop. It was Tommy Plick (sp) who owned it.
Before that, I remember it being run for a long time by Frankie DeTro (sp). When I was a little guy, it was the only place in BB that I went to for a haircut.
Somewhere on this forum, I posted a thread eariler about the barber shop.
I think between Tommy and Frankie, a guy named Gargulio ran it.

Tommy Plick is right. I think the last person you mentioned in this threads first name or nickname was Amoe pronouced A-Moe if I spelled it correctly.  Zach if you can point me in the right direction to where the first post is about Tommy Plicks Barber shop I will combine both into the old thread. By the way I started getting my haircuts in the same place. Matter of fact that is where I got my first haircut I remember. It was in the shop to the right of where Talmage and Main St connected just beyond Chitches and the Dean gas station next door.

RE: Barber Shop

Ok I have merged both threads together hear for Tommy Plicks Barber Shop. I hope everyone reading this thread will realize that this thread is made up of two threads that started on this forum almost a year apart. If one didn't know they would think someone like myself or Zach is repeating ourselves in this forum.

Tommy gave a good haircut and the atmosphere at his shop was always entertaining with the characters who hung out there.  You know he live on Linden Ave. for a time in the apt. upstairs from the Capolupo's.  I think I got my 1st haircut from Sam Della Peruta!  I am still traumatized!

joesdad, you're right, the characters were one of the reasons I went there so long. Adolph, Bart, and another guy who's name I can't remember all busted on Tommy from the moment he opened the door in the morning until he closed at night. All in good fun, of course but it sometimes distracted him while he was giving a haircut. Real fun and they all kept you up to date on all of the BB gossip.
Do you know if Tommy is still married to Lorraine?

Joesdad,
I remember Sam and his pure white hair from back in the day. He passed away a long time ago. Matter of fact I was talking to his daughter Millie just the other day. She lives right next door to Coddrington Park now.

Yes, Millie looks great and does well for her age.  I hear she was pondering moving to California near one of the cousins as she doesn't have many relatives left in BB.
