Gia, I played on the Lions back during the 60's. Lefty Sperduto was the manager. Back then it was just called the Bound Brook Little League. JFK was still alive when I played.

I played for the Elks in the late 50's. We had some really great teams for two years. They were all very good teams back then. Korab and Irakowski played for P&M , the Walsh brothers played for Lasko's, Beatty played for the Lions, Patullo, the Fox brothers, Bartch and I played for the Elks. I know that I left some names out but there were a number of good players who went on to play on in high school and college. One or two signed pro contracts after high school. P&M and the Elks battled it out each year and luckily we won each year. A few years ago, the Elks team had our 35th reunion, actually played a game at the old Little League field and then dinner at Greg Bennett's West Brook Inn on Talmage Ave
I also played for the Lions in the early 60's with Lefty Sperduto as our coach. After Lefty passed away, Mike Fratantuno Sr became our coach.
I remember Mike Fratantuno Senior. He was a great guy to know. Haven't seen his sons in years. I use to go trout fishing with Lefty on occasion as a kid. Another good guy from back in the day.

Trucker here..from I think about '63 to '65 or at least in that range...Mr Melnicki was our coach...As I recall we were pretty good but of course that could just be my old mind and wishful remembering
Lots of great guys used to coach and ump back then..I thought of them often years ago when I was "paying it forward" and working in our local little league program...good memories
i (Matt Vischetti) played for trust and sam mastrull coached. my last year there for all stars was the year Bound Brook hosted the finals for the state championship. we made a strong run and came in runner up. some of the guys were (and they need to fill in the details as they have it documented well) dave beatty, rich florzack, glen gulyas, tony izzo, eric winchuck, sean doremus, rich jeskie, gorden barna... sorry if i misspelled names and to those i left off, my memory is slipping. oh yeah, we also were 20-5 and state runner up a few years later (1976) as seniors at Bound Brook High. dave beatty had a nice article on the BBHS site, Good Memories.
Research Cottrell. and I remember standing in left field and watching Matt's home runs go WAY over my head up to the highway. We always played him at the fence to no avail.
hienzie was a year ahead of me and claude was 2 or 3 years ahead. i think some other from that group were mark peppe, mike gubitosa "gubbie" ray gambino, joe flis, artie corsini, ....
What's up, guys? I played for Ford and was fortunate enough to be chosen for the team Matt was on that went to the state finals in Bound Brook. We had a great time! I know your father shot film of the game that we watched later at a team dinner. Do you still have it?Â
Pete and Joe D's father were Ford's coaches. Matt hit a homer off me when I was 11 that hit off the bank across Route 28.
I was also there when George Benko tried to jump the brook on his bike like Evil. Splash!
Eric, Great to hear from you! Hope all is good with you and your family. I'm not sure if I have the film, but I have an audio cassette of the broadcast that was on the radio. Rich Florzack emailed me a couple of days ago and reminded me it was 40 years ago this week when we played that game. I can't believe it's been 40 years!!!!! I have nothing but great memories of Bound Brook and all the guys (families, parents) we grew up with. We need to get a list of all the guys from that team and the BBHS 1976 team that went to the state finals a few years after that. I'd like to see if we could all re-connect.
I missed George's attempted brook jump, but I think I was playing the day Stan ( I'll leave his last name off, Redwood) and a few others set the woods on fire. I remember seeing the smoke and hearing the firetrucks trying to get to the woods.
If you have any of the others contact info, pass it on to me or Rich Florzack. I know Rich was trying to put some stuff together. My email is mattvischetti@comcast.net Give me a holler and I can get Rich's email to you.
