Must have missed this thread when it came out but I have some memories of Stewarts and of the Dunellen Diner.
Late one cold winter night when my wife was pregnant with our daughter, she had a craving for a hotdog and root beer from Stewarts. I told her it was probably closed but she insisted that I go. As I was pulling in the parking lot, someone, I guess it was the manager or assistant manager, was locking the door. I got out of the car and told him why I was there and the guy reopened and made me two hotdogs and a root beer to go.
My memory of the Dunellen Diner goes way back to when I was about ten.
I must have had one of those music concerts at school that all kids sing in at one time or another and that all parents hate to go to but my Mom, for some reason decided to go to this one. Anyway, after the concert was over, she took me to the Dunellen Diner for a hamburger and fries. Just the two of us sitting there talking and eating. One of those priceless moments that you don't realize are priceless until it's gone and becomes a memory you'll never forget.
Thanks

Oh Yea, Stewarts Root Beer. The guy who ran it was named Art. Later on it became "The HouseOf Grill Repute" they used to give out "Wooden Nickles" Spent many a night their woofing down hot dogs & Fries and washing it down with an Ice Cold "Frosty Mug" of Root Beer. As you stated memories that stay with you your whole life.

What I wouldn't do for a frosty mug of Stewart's Root Beer from the fountain.  Cracker Barrel now sells it in bottles but it is just not the same.  From the fountain, it was not a carbonated and had a more syrupy flavor.  Loved Stewart's when I was a kid, they brought the food to the car and those little cups of ketchup were perfect kid sized!!!

I was going through some drawers today and ran across a bunch of "Wooden Nickles" from the old house of Grill Repute. Great Memories.
