Anyone who lived in Bound Brook for many years has to remember Karpy's. I happen to know Jack and also knew his father from way back. Jack's father was good friends with my grandfather back in the day. I always use to kid around with him. biggrin

I can remember knocking off school one day and hanging out at Karpy's for most of the day.. Jack was working on a light blue 67 Chevelle SS 396, belonging to John B... Jack was trying to get rid of a miss and was having a time of it. He would try something and we would take the car up on the comeback.. still missing... Tried something else... back to the come back... still missing... We get back to the shop and his Dad walks out to the car... listens to the engine for about 10 seconds and says to Jack " you got a valve too tight ".... Turns around a goes back inside and sat at the desk in the "office" .. Jack pops off the valve covers and backs off on a couple valves and just like that the engine smooths right out... That was a classic!!!
That was the car that ended up with the 4:33 rear out of a dark blue Chevelle SS 396 that ment with a unfortunate end on a bridge coming out of Manville.. I even remember going to Somerset Hospital to visit the driver of that dark blue Chevelle...

Funny story about Danny.. I was hanging out at Dairy Queen and Danny pulls up in his 66 Caprice and asks me if I would go with him to the Chevy dealer in New Brunswick to pick up his 68 427 Corvette... I figure sure I'll get to drive his Caprice back.. (It was a 396 4speed) ..We get to the dealer and Danny signs all the paper work comes over to me and hands me the keys to THE VETTE!! He says " I want to see what the Vette looks like driving down the road!! So here I am 18 years old cruising in a brand new 427 Vette.
THANKS DANNY!! LOL...

I'll talk with him again on the computer issue. He doesnt like going on the computer as he stated.I'm trying to get him in the 21 century.

I picked up a metal model of a 66- Chevelle 396 at the hobby store yesterday and putting it together with my grandsons right now.

Why cant that car be in my garage and not my table.

Later

I just checked E-Bay there is a couple of red Chevelles on there but no dark blue... Guess we will have to keep looking to fill that empty spot in your garage...

Thank you---keep looking.
The model we put together was red at first. I had to buy blue spray paint first. Could have a red one.

That is why they sell different paints out there but seriously if you are looking for another Chevelle 396 before you check out they are out there. Remember you only live once. Right GTO/GN.
